Introduction:
It's the last dance, the last waiver wire of the 23/24 season. It brings a tear to my eye writing this article. This will be the last waiver wire suggestion article of the season. Lets make it a good one!
In this article we look at some possible picks that could be available on those waivers. To caveat these suggestions, no waiver wire is the same, so any suggestions we give are one's which we think have gone under the radar which may still be available. Also, your team may be set up perfectly for GW38, but if you have some injuries or suspensions (Reece James) or players just not cutting it for you. Then look no further. For full list of waivers, listen to our weekly podcast.
Goalkeeper Waiver

Nick Pope (Newcastle)
Pope started on the bench in Newcastle's loss to Man Utd. Pope's clean sheet record is very impressive, and is a fantastic keeper when he's fit. He picked up 6 clean sheets in 14 appearances so far this season. In his premier league career, he has 65 clean sheets. With the majority of those coming during his time at Burnley, managed by current Everton manager, Sean Dyche.
Pope will be pushing for a place at the Euro's with Pickford being the current No1, so I'd expect Pope will be gunning to get the start this weekend.
Defender Waivers

Fabian Schar (Newcastle)
Another Newcastle asset to add to the list. Schar came on after 63 minutes for Trippier who is just returning from injury himself. Newcastle are still pushing for a Europa league spot if City win the FA Cup. So, Eddie Howe will be looking to put his best team forward. Could we see a backline with Schar, Trippier, Dan Burn & Pope in the sticks? I hope we do, all that's missing is Sven Botman to re-create the formidable backline that kept 14 clean sheets in the 22/23 season. Unfortunately Botman is out injured until January 2025. So if Trippier, Schar, Burn or Pope are on the waivers, they can be good pickups for GW38 away fixture to Brentford, who are currently chilling on the beach drinking pints and backing ponies as they are safe from relegation.
Other notable mentions this week would be Doughty (Luton) who play Fulham at home. Luton are basically relegated but will want to put on a performance to their amazing supporters in their last game of the season.
Aina & Willy Boly of Nottingham Forrest are also decent shouts as they play Burnley (relegated) this weekend.
Midfielder Waivers

Pape Sarr (Tottenham)
Spurs play bottom of the table Sheffield United (Away) in a must win game for Tottenham to 100% secure their Europa League position. Players like Son, Johnson, Maddison & Kulusevski will more than likely be taken from the waivers already, but Sarr can be a good pick up if you want to get into that Spurs team. He picked up some very good positions against City in GW38 playing as sort of a false 9 alongside Maddison. Spurs really packed the midfield making it difficult for City to string passes together, then they played the wide men of Son & Johnson in attack. Spurs just lacked the strength & sharpness to get on the end of some crosses into the box from Johnson. If Sarr picks up similar positions as he did against City, he will get more chances against a weaker Sheffield United.
Jacob Murphy (Newcastle)

Other notable mentions would be Jacob Murphy (Newcastle) who has 4 assists in his last 4 games, starting every game since GW27. He has the ability to haul as well. He was whipped after 61 mins against United in GW37, fingers crossed he makes the 60th minute mark against Brentford.
Callum Hudson Odoi (Nottingham Forrest)
Top of the list & our number 1 midfield waiver is Callum Hudson Odoi. 3 goals in his last 2 games & he doesn't look like slowing down. Name a player that cuts from left to right and to finish in the bottom corner better than CHO, I'll wait. Forrest play Burnley away in which I expect to be a multi goal thriller. If CHO is unavailable, his right hand man Elanga is another good option.
Forward Waivers

Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forrest)
We have mentioned this man before numerous times and he's let us down of late. Possibly we were too optimistic of his return & thought Forrest would have needed him sooner. Nonetheless Forrest are safe and Awoniyi is fit, it is worth a punt that he gets the nod over Chris Wood.
Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea)
The Frenchman came on for the injured Mydryk after 42 minutes. Which now looks like Nkunku will get his first start for the blues since his injury in GW25. Mudryk is definitely ruled out because of the nature of the injury, which extra precaution being taken for head injuries. Chelsea have a great fixture in Bournemouth at home and are in great form with 4 wins on the bounce. If he's available get the Nkunku fella. (Personally I'd have Nkunku over Awoniyi this week)
Conclusion
