1. Become the Admin - Create the League

As the league administrator, your first task is to create the draft FPL mini-league. Select the "FPL Draft" icon in the main fantasy football page on the FPL app or website. Follow the instructions to create a new league. Choose a league name and set the league parameters, including league size (we recommend 10-12), points system (total points or Head to Head). Once created, invite participants to join the league using a unique code or invitation link.

2. Familiarize with the FPL Draft Interface

Before the draft night arrives, take the time to familiarize yourself with the FPL Draft interface. Explore features such as player search, watchlist, and player analytics. Understanding how to navigate the interface will streamline the drafting process and ensure a smooth experience for all participants.

3. Add Players to Watchlist

As the draft approaches, compile a watchlist of players you're interested in selecting for your team. Research player statistics, performance trends, and team dynamics to inform your decisions. Adding players to your watchlist within the draft interface will help you stay organized and focused during the draft.

4. Draft Night

On draft night, gather all league participants for the much-anticipated draft. Draft order will happen at random and follow a snake like pattern. I.e. in a 10 man league if I get first pick, my next pick will be pick 20, if i get pick 10, I will also get pick 11 etc. Use your watchlist to guide your selections, balancing player performance, position scarcity, and team strategy. The draft is an exciting opportunity to shape your team and establish your competitive advantage.

5. Teams are Set

With the draft complete, teams are now set for the upcoming season. Take a moment to review your squad and assess its strengths and weaknesses. Consider potential trade opportunities and waiver claims to further optimize your team before the start of the season.

6. Begin Trades & Waivers ahead of GW1

Before the first gameweek kicks off, the trading and waiver period begins. Explore trade opportunities with other managers to strengthen your squad or address any deficiencies. Additionally, monitor the waiver wire for available players who may enhance your team's depth. Act decisively to secure valuable additions to your roster.

7. Lock in Team

As gameweek 1 approaches, ensure that your team is locked in and ready for action. Make any final adjustments to your lineup and confirm your starting XI. Double-check player availability, injuries, and suspensions to avoid any last-minute surprises. With your team finalized, you're prepared to embark on the journey of the new season.

8. First Head to Head

The excitement reaches its peak as the first head-to-head matchups of the season unfold. Compete against other teams in your league and strive for victory in your opening fixture. Monitor player performances and gameweek results closely, as each match contributes to your overall standing in the league.

9. Enjoy the Season

Throughout the season, immerse yourself in the excitement of fantasy football. Stay engaged with your team, track player performances, and interact with other managers in your league. Celebrate victories, analyze defeats, and appreciate the camaraderie of the fantasy football community. Regardless of outcomes, cherish the experience of participating in the league.

10. Only One Winner

As the season progresses, the competition intensifies, and teams vie for supremacy. Stay focused on your goals and strive to climb the league standings with each passing gameweek. Ultimately, only one team will emerge victorious, crowned as the champion of the draft FPL mini-league. Celebrate their achievement and acknowledge their dedication and skill throughout the season.

11. Forfeit for Last Place

While the thrill of victory is exhilarating, the reality of fantasy football also includes the possibility of finishing at the bottom of the standings. In the spirit of friendly competition, establish a forfeit or penalty for the manager who finishes in last place. Whether it's buying the next round of drinks or performing a humorous task, the forfeit adds an element of fun to the league and encourages good sportsmanship among participants.
